Basketball

Basketball is a fast-paced team sport played on a rectangular court, typically indoors. The objective of the game is to score points by shooting a ball through the opposing team’s elevated hoop, known as the basket. A standard basketball game involves two teams, each consisting of five players, who strive to outscore each other by making field goals, which are worth two or three points depending on the distance from the basket, or by making free throws, which are worth one point. The game is characterized by its use of dribbling, passing, and shooting, along with defensive strategies to prevent the opposing team from scoring. Basketball is governed by a set of rules established by organizations such as the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). It is played at various competitive levels, from amateur leagues to professional tournaments, and is one of the most popular sports worldwide.
